I just love how in English you say “great minds think alike”, which is a completely positive thing since you’re kinda praising yourself, but in German you go like “zwei Dumme, ein Gedanke” = “two fools, one thought”

Kind of reminds me when my french teacher explained us the french idiom “L’espoir fait vivre” (Hope makes us live) and he asked me how Germans say it and I was like “Hope dies last” and his legit answer was:
It’s the peaceful nights like this that he can’t help but cherish, Lati finds. There’s no dead men risen to ruin his life, no last minute calls from patients or clients, all his pets are settled comfortably in their beds… and most important of all, he has his lover asleep in his arms. He’s never been so thankful for his own inability to sleep as he is on nights like this; where he can trace his fingers over every lingering mark on dark skin, press gentle whispers of kisses on the eyelids that hide sightless but captivating eyes, and bury his face into the long fluffy silver strands of hair that lay spread across his single pillow. “Nei… thank you, so much.” He breathes out, replacing any other words or monolouges in his heart instead with the scent of Neishin’s hair, letting the lingering scents the man carries wrap around him more securely than any blanket he could own.
This.. this is where he can feel content. Wrapped and entangled physically just as much as he’s bound his heart to the arcanist that grants him freedom and support.
Alright, so. Coffee. I don’t drink coffee. I have no desire to drink coffee. I find people who enthusiastically go on about the flavor differences of lattes, espressos, and french press brews, both amusing and mildly baffling. All the coffee ads. Coffee jokes. Bustling coffee shops. To me, all coffee is similarly bitter and unpleasant. I have been through so many “Try this, it’s sweet! You can’t even taste the coffee!” Alas, I always can. And I’m sensitive to caffeine anyway. So, I don’t really think about drinking it when I wake up or am tired.
Yet I love the smell of coffee. I love the idea of coffee. The feeling of a warm cup taking the chill from my fingers, the cozy ritual of having a drink and chat.
I might try someone’s coffee. If they ask, if I want to please them and share in something they enjoy.
I am also perfectly capable of learning the preferences of those I care about and creating a cup for their pleasure.
But I don’t want coffee, generally speaking. I will probably make a face after trying their coffee and wash the taste out with something else. They may rush to reassure me that it is an acquired taste. And I’ll have to reply that it’s a taste I don’t particularly care about acquiring in the way they did. ‘Drink it till you like it’ will never work for me.
But that doesn’t mean I am against coffee or think people shouldn’t drink it. Doesn’t mean I’ve taken a vow to never drink any. And sure, maybe if you get one of those sugar and whipped cream disasters, more of a warm milkshake than a cup of coffee, I’ll probably be happier sipping it with you. But honestly? I’d rather smell someone else’s coffee and not be expected to drink it. I’d really rather have the heat and sweetness of my hot cocoa.

The best part is it works for ALLLL the ace spectrum! Maybe you like one specific type of coffee on rare occasions! Maybe you enjoy coffee when you’re sharing the drink with someone! Maybe you can’t even stand the smell of coffee!

would also like to add – maybe you don’t even dislike coffee. but…you don’t like it either. you’ll drink it, you think it’s okay, sometimes even good, but you’ll never go out of your way to have some. you pass the aisle at the grocery store. you hang out at coffee shops for the atmosphere and you definitely get why people like it, can see the allure, but it’s just something you can live without.
Here’s an update on the Camp Fire happening in Butte County in Northern California:
1. The fire grew from 70,000 to 90,000 acres and is still only 5% contained. It is now the most destructive fire in California’s history
2. So far there have been 9 confirmed fatalities. 5 of these people died in their cars while trying to evacuate
3. The last incident report I saw said that the fire isn’t expected to be contained until 11/30/2018 but this information might have changed by now
4. A total of 6,713 buildings have been confirmed to be destroyed (6,453 of which were residential buildings, 206 were commercial buildings)
5. A text to donate has been set up by United Way to help with recovery efforts. Text “buttefire” to 91999
6. All school in Butte County is cancelled for the next week
7. The air quality in Chico is extremely bad right now so please stay inside as much as possible and keep your pets inside if you can
The Honey Run Covered Bridge (built in 1886) has been destroyed and is no longer standing. This is really sad news to me because I used to go there as a kid growing up and I’ve spent a lot of time there with my friends as well. It was a historic Chico landmark loved by so many people
