Don’t feel bad if you’re sensitive to negative feedback because apparently after one particular bad review Hans Christian Andersen was found just sobbing while lying face down in the dirt
YOU LEFT OUT THE BEST PART THOUGH! HE WAS CRYING FACE DOWN IN THE DIRT IN CHARLES DICKENSEN´S YARD!!
WHERE HE HAD BEEN STAYING FOR WEEKS, LONG OVERSTAYING HIS WELCOME, AND WAS ANNOYING THE FUCK OUT OF DICKENS
This is the first time I’ve heard of it, but thank you very much for bringing it to my attention! This is very interesting, and the more I know, the more I can help! With that in mind, please let me know if I make any mistakes.
I’d like to acknowledge that most internet sources actually talk about ideational apraxia, which is similar but not quite the same as dyspraxia – if I understand right, ideational apraxia can be caused by neurological damage, and it’s very common in Alzheimer’s sufferers, people who have had strokes, and those with dementia. With ideational dyspraxia, it will be developmental, and with us from birth.
People with ideational dyspraxia will have issues with doing tasks in the right order, or with knowing exactly how to do a task, even if they’ve done it before. For instance, they might put shampoo in their hair before turning on or entering a shower. It’s not necessarily that they don’t know how to have a shower, just that the order of events gets mixed up.
Ideational dyspraxia can also cause people to use objects for the wrong tasks. When handed a toothbrush, their brain might think that is serves the same purpose as a pencil, and try to write with it because it is a similar shape.
This is just my input here, but I think ideational dyspraxia may play a hand in some of the executive dysfunction we experience! If we don’t feel like we know exactly how we’re going to take on a task, we might freeze up and avoid doing it, even though we know it needs done.
At my new job, I’ve been writing the steps to most tasks in a notebook so that I can refer to them when I’m asked to do them. My colleagues think I’m very organised, but it’s just one big cheat-sheet!
Still battling with my anger at all the adults in my life who failed me. Who insisted I was making things up, being too sensitive, acting ‘weird’ or shutting down on purpose to get attention or to purposely make them angry, who would do things to me I said hurt, or things that would heavily upset me, or hit me when i was having a meltdown, because I “need to toughen up” , and the sheer joy and freedom I have now in accepting myself and the way my brain and body works 🙂 and understanding myself like I never have before.
A Bind Rune (Icelandic: bandrún) is created by combining two or more ancient Viking Runes into a single symbol. What this combination is believed to do is create a more powerful Rune, than the individual Runes used to make it. How the Bind Rune is created is very important. Bind Runes should be kept as simple as possible so that each Rune is clearly distinguishable. Using more than five is usually not advisable. When a bind rune is too complex it will be less powerful than a simpler symbol. Bind Runes were rare in Viking days; there are not many examples of the ancient Norse writing them. They became more common among the Scandinavian people later in the Middle Ages.
You sure have seenthis post. It has spread like wildfire over the past few days so I doubt there is any artist out there who hasn’t seen it. But even if you didn’t, you should read on because I’m about to tell you a handy little thing that can help you to protect your art from such assholes as the anon who submitted this bullcrap, as well as art thieves in general.
The magic word is Metadata.
Metadata is like an invisible signature that is embeded into a file. It can contain all kinds of information, like Title, date, keywords for online seach engines, and copyright information. And the best thing is, since this information is “hidden” in the code of your picture, it’s hard to remove it.
There is a nice basic tutorial on how to add Metadata, or “additional file information” to your images in photoshop. It’s really, really easy so check it out!
I’m not sure if you can do the same with any other art program. If you know how to do this in other programs / can confirm that it works the same way there, please tell me so I can add the information to this post.
Adding the Metadata will not stop idiots from taking and reposting your art. It also won’t make them stop editing out your signature. It WILL however, help you prove that you are the original artist whenever you have to. Always remember my friends. You, the artist, are protected by law. No one has the right to take your intellectual property and hard work and repost, use or edit it without your permission. Ever.
art thief: well how can you prove its yours??
me: /opens metadata
I spread the word as it is important to all artist who ever suffered from art thieving or so.
You guys, metadata is super important, you guys. In an everday and legal sense. People legitimately look at and rely on metadata to know the basic, but important bits of information about a digital product (paintings, photographs, exe files, etc.), ESPECIALLY the source.
