Ladies, gentlemen, and nobility of other genders, may I present to you the literal perfect casting choice for Li Shang in Mulan: Yoshua “Yoshi” Sudarso.

Some fun facts about Yoshi:

  • Was born in Indonesia, but is ethnically Chinese
  • 26 years old (b. April 12, 1989)
  • Worked as a stunt double on the Maze Runner
  • Also worked as a model for several years
  • Has martial arts training
  • Currently starring as Koda on Power Rangers Dino Charge
  • Is a massive nerd and fan of Disney (Big Hero 6 especially), Free!, Spider-Man, and Power Rangers
  • Said in response to fancastings: “I’ll make a man, out of you! Waking up to all your fancastings and kind words really made my day. Of course it would be amazing to portray such a strong Male Asian lead, but I would be humbled to at least score an audition for Li Shang. So thank you for spreading the word and giving me such amazing exposure, maybe Disney will take notice, I love you all! And remember you must be swift as the coursing river!”

If none of that convinces you, then maybe this picture will:

In summary, Yoshi Sudarso for Li Shang 2k15.

I know ppl have said this before but i wish Rose looked more alien.. like she can have light skin (although I prefer dark) but they make her too “flesh” colored, her skin could atleast be a light pink.

maybe this is more of a nitpick idk.

i totally agree and i don’t think it’s really a nitpick!

if we look at the pilot episode’s color palette for steven vs the current show’s color palette for steven, it’s incredibly obvious that steven was changed to look like a white human instead of a gem

the only difference in the pilot and finished show wrt sadie is that her skin is a wee bit pinker in the pilot, but it’s hardly noticeable. steven, though…

it’s clear when comparing him to sadie, who is undeniably white, that steven in the pilot was not intended to be human. even lars, who is nonwhite as stated by ian jq, is not pink like steven. he’s supposed to be an alien in the pilot. bright pink skin to correspond with rose quartz, just like the other gems in the pilot have skin tinted to fit their gem’s color.

but maybe steven isn’t like other gems because he’s half human! sure, i could maybe buy that. but let’s talk about gems. it’s not too much of a stretch to assume that since pearl’s gem is white, she would have literal white skin rather then peachy human tones.

but rose isn’t a pearl. she’s a quartz. let’s compare her to two other quartzes we know:

notice how jasper and amethyst both have hair that’s lighter than their skin, and that their skin is desaturated, but the same color as their gems. (jasper is a little harder to do this with considering her gem is never one solid color and is instead four colors because of the way the light catches its facets. nevertheless, you know what i mean.) also note that their hair is an almost white, tinted with their gem’s color. why is rose not tinted pink? why is her hair not lighter than her skin?

here’s what it would look like if she followed the same rules as every other quartz, compared to the original:

it looks much better, and follows the rules of quartz.

my conclusion: why did they make rose a white woman instead of a literal alien that follows the rules of her species lol???

i couldnt help but draw rose with that colour palette

First of all I love her second of all SHE’S SO BEAUTIFUL… AND SO FUCKING ROUND…

This is one of the rare times I have felt sorry for Tobirama. He doubts his brother’s loyalty to him. He isn’t sure if Hashirama will choose to save his life over Madara’s.

It’s easy to imagine why Tobirama distrusts/hates Madara. Tobirama has to compete with him on everything from Hashirama’s time and the conception and development of his dream when they were younger, to later Madara possibly succeeding Hokageship. As the only remaining brother of Hashirama Tobirama stands in line to succeed should something happen to Hashirama. He would either be the next Senju leader or the next Hokage. He was likely used to wielding considerable clout as not only a male of the head family second only to his brother but also as the lieutenant/general of Hashirama.

“Don’t lend him you ear, brother!”/“Don’t you listen to him, brother!”

Tobirama is used to being the main voice his brother listens to.

Lol. And in that scene Hashi isn’t even listening to him.

{{ THIS. And people conveniently forget the profound psychological effects of this on Tobirama’s character?

For me Hashirama’s been abandoning him since childhood. There can’t be a stellar sibling relationship between the two after all these. Sure they get along and cooperate, but.

Ah, I can go on and on about this all day. :/

I wonder what is going through Tobirama’s mind at this moment. Shikamaru acknowledges him as Hashirama’s primary aide. Is he happy about the validation or bittersweet because ‘that’s not how it was…’.

{{ Probably the latter. If one would take time and study the dynamics between all sibling relationships here, contrasting between the Uchiha, one would notice that the use of the title ‘niisan’ or ‘aniiki’ is different between say, Tobirama calling Hashirama ‘anija’, especially in Hashirama’s flashbacks. Almost as if Tobirama always needed to remind Hashirama he’s his brother.

Also, open up to? Shikamaru had no idea Hashirama often shut Tobirama up if he didn’t like what he was hearing (that suspicious chakra flare again; which you could let slide only once, when Tobirama threatened to harm Sasuke). Definitely not your usual sibling dynamics here.

I don’t really have much to contribute here except to highlight how much it pisses me off as a reader to see a relationship like this between the last two surviving brothers of a war.

Just, Hashi. Get your head out of your fucking ass. His relationship with Tobirama even directly contrasts Madara and Izuna. Madara who LISTENED to his brother and valued him above almost all else, vs Hashirama, who decided that somehow Madara was worth more than family.

Madara seems to at any point understand the distinction between blood and friendship. To see them as unequal but equal, and know when one should take value over the other.

But Hashirama just… sees one thing he values and focuses on it, at the expense of others, even if those other things are, say, brothers, or friendships.

Too true. Hashirama did not know the relationships he should prioritize.

Madara wasn’t just a friend to Hashirama. The guy put Madara on a pedestal. He was a ‘prophet’ and a ‘gift from the divine’.

The sad reality is, Hashirama made it very clear what happens when you don’t stop at the limits he has set. Tobirama stops when Hashirama shows his chakra and temper. Madara never realized what would happen if Hashirama lost his patience with him.

Unlike the Third who couldn’t bring himself to kill his student or his friend (Danzo), Hashirama would have no such compunctions. At the end of the day it is easier to kill someone who left the village no matter their relationship to the leader of the village then to kill someone who is the leader’s brother who is seen by the people as a voice of reason.

Hashirama believed that the well-being of the village will result in the well-being of its inhabitants. This is a very wishy-washy thing to say and shows that he did not perhaps consider what happens when the well-being of the village is not in the best interests of its inhabitants. Madara’s last words didn’t make him consider what was wrong with his dream.

Is it an autistic thing to not think of consequences?

candidlyautistic:

vanshira:

butterflyinthewell:

It can be. I didn’t connect actions to consequences for a long time as a kid, and it caused adults to treat me like one of those bad kids who misbehave and act defiant on purpose. Nobody considered the fact that I didn’t know why something I did was bad and couldn’t learn to not do it if I wasn’t connecting the punishment to what I did to warrant it.

Like I would hit or throw sand at other kids in preschool. I got thrown into timeout, yelled at, sent home, etc. I could repeat back what I did and when asked why I did it, I shrugged. Then I got out of timeout or whatever and went right back to the bad thing because I had no idea why it was bad.

I spent a long time thinking adults were scary mean people because I would do something, and suddenly I had somebody yelling at me and hauling me by the arm to sit in a corner or on a bench. To me, it felt like the anger and punishment came out of nowhere for no reason.

I didn’t understand actions/consequences until I was about 8 or 9 because my grandma finally figured out the issue and explained it all to me. Then I learned that it hurts other people to hit them the same way it hurts me if I get hit. It took maybe twenty minutes to explain to me, yet nobody thought to do that for years and years.

I was just “that bratty little shit” in teachers’ eyes. Yes, I heard a teacher say that about me outside a door while I was in timeout.

Then again, I didn’t get my autism diagnosis till I was 15 because “girls don’t get autism” or someshit.

It took maybe twenty minutes to explain to me, yet nobody thought to do that for years and years.

That one sentence applies to so much in my life.
