OKAY SO YESTERDAY @gay-trans-leo murdered me with his amazing Hokage Shisui fic (which is up to like ?? 12k I am so ready for this fic) and then his Hokage Shisui idea collided with my Hokage Kiba thing and it got really out of hand.
ANyway I couldn’t stop thinking about it so I wrote a thing!!!!
The First Hokage, Hashirama Senju, was a kind man for his time. As kind as he could be for someone with as much blood on his hands as he had, but that doesn’t change the fact that the First Hokage had more blood on his hands than any other before him. It doesn’t change how willing he was to murder.
The Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, had no room for mercy and so he showed none. The Second Hokage bathed in the blood of his enemies, faced every demon the world could throw at him. Maybe he was too harsh, but the Second Hokage did what he believed what he had to do. Maybe it wasn’t right, maybe hindsight can prove he could have done better, but he always acted in a way that he thought would keep the village the safest.
The Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, was strong, powerful and was broken by time and blind loyalty. The Third Hokage let people live when they should have died, abandoned those who deserved love. The Third Hokage made many mistakes, and many saw him as kind. Despite his is so-called kindness, placed in all the places it wasn’t needed, he did what he thought Konoha needed. (The Third Hokage dies in his sleep, never forced to confront his own decisions, his own mistakes.)
The Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, as fast as lightning and as cold as ice, even under the blazing sun of a summer day. The Fourth Hokage was ruthlessness and sticky drying blood in the midst of the third shinobi war. The Fourth Hokage was what he thought Konoha needed.
The fifth Hokage, Shisui Uchiha, was born in the ashes of a broken world, raised in a war and broken more times than he could heal. The world created a madman, and maybe that’s what Konoha needed. Maybe the village needed someone who wasn’t afraid to spill blood and raise hell and walk through the flames like it can’t burn him. Maybe Konoha needed someone who could stare death in the face and laugh. The Fifth Hokage may have been what the village needed, but he wasn’t a kind man.
The Sixth Hokage, Kiba Inuzuka, forges his career on the shoulders of people who love him, on the support of people who care about him. The Sixth Hokage breathes the pain of his people, stands at his inauguration and bows.
The Sixth Hokage is a kind man. But the Sixth Hokage is not weak.
Kiba Inuzuka loses no sleep as he locks Orochimaru away, never to be released, cursed to live in that cell and die in that cell. He sheds no tears for Madara Uchiha, Obito Uchiha and none for the Akatsuki.
Kiba is offered the hat in the middle of the Fourth Shinobi War surrounded by the bodies of his dead comrades and the death of Shisui on the forefront of everyone’s mind.
Maybe the job of a Hokage had lost it’s meaning over time, overcome by the irrational need to protect the village, that the people itself, the friends and family made along the way was lost, but the Sixth gave it new meaning.
Kiba pulled the Allied Shinobi Forces to their feet and dragged them across the finish line.
Kiba, barely a Jounin and Hokage for all of 10 minutes united a world that had been at war for decades better than anyone before him.
The Sixth Hokage cared, and maybe, just maybe, a little care is what the world needed.
hey i just got killed and so should you because echo is amazing and this is basically what I needed. holy shit. goodbye
